Space notebooks

10 Lenovo ThinkPad E14/E15 AMD laptops (TP01–TP10) used by kids at the SFZ. Managed as a NixOS flake in the space-notebooks repository.

Key features

  • Impermanence — Btrfs root subvolume is rolled back to a blank snapshot on every boot. Only /nix, /persist, and /var/log survive reboots
  • Auto-update — a systemd service pulls the latest flake from Codeberg on every boot after network-online.target
  • Secrets — managed with agenix. Each machine has its own entry in secrets/secrets.nix
  • Firefox — managed policies with hackwerk/sfz homepages and CA
  • Prusa Slicer — managed config for our 3D printers
  • Inkscape — includes Silhouette and Ink/Stitch extensions
  • IntelliJ IDEA — bundled with JDK 17, 21, and 25 for Minecraft (mod) development
